Assembly Election Results 2018: PM Modi congratulates Congress; says 'victory and defeat integral part of life'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Congress for its ‘victories’ in the assembly polls, as trends indicated a clear majority to Congress in Rajasthan and  Chhattisgarh and a tight-race in Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister took to Twitter to thank people of Chhattisgarh, MP and Rajasthan and accepted the people’s mandate with “humility”. He said the BJP government worked “tirelessly” for the welfare of the people in the states. He wrote: “I thank the people of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for giving us the opportunity to serve these states. The BJP Governments in these states worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people.” It was followed with a congratulatory tweet for the Congress which emerged victorious in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, TRS which swept Telangana and MNF which won in Mizoram. “Congratulations to the Congress for their victories. Congratulations to KCR Garu for the thumping win in Telangana and to the Mizo National Front (MNF) for their impressive victory in Mizoram”, PM tweeted. In the following tweet, he acknowledged the hard work of BJP workers. He said that BJP’s defeat will strengthen the party’s resolve to serve people and work even harder for the development of India. “The family of BJP Karyakartas worked day and night for the state elections. I salute them for their hardwork. Victory and defeat are an integral part of life. Today’s results will further our resolve to serve people and work even harder for the development of India”, PM tweeted. BJP president Amit Shah congratulated K Chandrashekar Rao and TRS for the impressive victory in Telangana assembly elections. In the assembly election results which were being viewed as a test for both Congress and BJP ahead of the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress has fared better than BJP in all the states while in Madhya Pradesh the parties are locked in a cliff-hanger.
