The Assembly polls in the five states will be held between November 7 and November 30. Mizoram will go to polls on November 7, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30 while Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 and November 17.
The Congress on Thursday announced its second list of 88 candidates for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls. Earlier the party had declared candidates for 144 seats but changed candidature in three seats while issuing the second list. Therefore, the total number of candidates announced in the first list stands at 141, a Congress leader said.
The Congress on Wednesday also released its second list of 53 candidates for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, fielding party veteran Motilal Vora's son Arun Vora from Durg City. With the second list, the total number of candidates declared by the Congress went up to 83 out of the total of 90.
The BJP on Wednesday released the names of its candidates for 21 assembly seats in Mizoram. With this, the BJP has now announced candidates for 86 seats for the polls to the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly.
According to the party's first list for the Mizoram assembly polls, R Lalbiaktluangi will contest from the Lunglei West seat, Shanti Bikash Chakma from Thorang, Malsawmtluanga from Hachhek and Vanlalhmuaka from the Dampa seat. There were 12 names on this list.
In a second list of nine candidates released subsequently, the BJP nominated Judy Zohmingliani for the Tuivawl assembly seat, F Lalremsangi for the Aizwal South-I seat and K Vanlalruati for the Serchhip seat among others. There are 40 seats in the Mizoram assembly.
Meanwhile, the Congress leadership on Wednesday discussed the probable candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections.
The party's Central Election Committee, chaired by AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, held a meeting to deliberate on the names of candidates for the November 25 polls in the desert state.
Chhattisgarh polls: Notification issued for 2nd phase, five candidates file papers on first day
The process of filing nomination forms for the second phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections began on Saturday with the issuance of a notification, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said.On the first day, five candidates from Premnagar, Raigarh, Marwahi, Bilaigarh and Rajim constituencies filed their nomination papers.Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 (20 seats) and November 17 (70 seats). Counting of votes for all 90 constituencies will be taken up on December 3.The process of filing nominations for 70 constituencies in 22 districts for the second phase began with the issuance of a notification on Saturday, as per the election office.
