'If BJP Can Be Defeated In Chandigarh Mayor Polls...': Kejriwal's Big Claim Ahead Of 2024 Elections

Arvind Kejriwal thanked the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of India for the court's verdict on the Chandigarh mayoral poll, saying it saved the country's democracy.

If BJP can be defeated in Chandigarh mayoral poll, it can also be defeated in other elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday while slamming the saffron party over the Supreme Court overturning the outcome of the Chandigarh mayoral poll.

"Chandigarh mayoral poll incident shows BJP does not win elections, it steals verdicts... BJP indulging in 'adharm', those who are with Lord Ram are with country and 'dharm' will finally prevail," Kejriwal said in Delhi Assembly.

The Delhi CM also thanked the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of India for the court's verdict on the Chandigarh mayoral poll, saying it saved the country's democracy.

Kejriwal's reaction comes as the top court overturned the result of the polls in which a BJP candidate had emerged as an unlikely winner and declared the defeated AAP-Congress alliance candidate Kuldeep Kumar as the new Chandigarh mayor.

The SC directed the recounting of the votes polled in the Chandigarh mayoral elections and the declaration of the result after considering the eight defaced ballots declared invalid by the returning officer.

Equating the Chandigarh Mayor Polls to the recent elections in Pakistan, Kejriwal said, "In Chandigarh, their (BJP) official rigged the votes to make a person, who was winning the election with a huge margin, lose the poll and the one, who was losing the election, win. The same thing happened in Pakistan too."

It seemed as though god were speaking through the CJI, Kejriwal said, hailing the SC that declared defeated Kuldeep Kumar as the new mayor setting aside the January 30 poll result.

Slamming the BJP, Kejriwal alleged that the saffron party would do anything to win elections and accused it of indulging in poaching MLAs and toppling governments openly.

He said all the devotees of Lord Ram, Krishna, Shiv-Parvati are with the country and finally, the adharm of the BJP will come to an end and dharm (righteousness) will prevail.

Kejriwal also hit out at the BJP over the ongoing farmers' protest and said it is not allowing the agitating farmers to reach Delhi.

"Why don't they allow the farmers to come to Delhi? They do not pay the price for their crops and also do not listen to them," he said.
