2024 Lok Sabha Elections Results: As per Eary Trends, indicates a close battle between BJP and INDIA-bloc.

As per the initial trends of the Lok Sabha election results, the Narendra Modi-led NDA the Congress and the INDIA-Bloc are closely battling the Lok Sabha elections with 14 Lok Sabha seats going their way. This is only an initial trend as postal ballots are being counted.

Senior BJP Leaders Discuss Party’s Performance Ahead Of Lok Sabha Poll Results

On June 3, senior BJP leaders, including Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, held a meeting to discuss the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha polls. The meeting, presided over by BJP chief J P Nadda, also reviewed the prevailing political situation following exit polls predicting a significant win for the BJP-led NDA. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc held a series of meetings rejecting these forecasts.

“A meeting was held to discuss and review the elections conducted in seven phases and also to discuss the counting of votes which is to take place tomorrow. The meeting was presided over by party national president J P Nadda,” BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde told reporters after the meeting.

He said the meeting discussed the voting patterns observed during all seven phases of polls. “This was also reviewed,” he added.

Tawde mentioned that the meeting, which was attended by BJP national general secretaries and secretaries, held an “extensive discussion” on all seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections and deliberated on the deployment of the party’s polling agents across the country for counting votes.

LS Polls: 2,572 Crorepatis; 1,643 Candidates With Criminal Cases In Fray

According to poll rights body ADR, there are 2,572 candidates who are crorepatis, while 1,643 candidates have criminal cases registered against them.

An analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch has provided detailed profiles of the candidates. Out of the 8,360 candidates contesting, 8,337 were analyzed, revealing significant insights into their backgrounds, including criminal records, financial status, education, and gender representation.

Key Findings:

  - 20% of candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, up from 19% in 2019, 17% in 2014, and 15% in 2009.
  - Of the 8,337 candidates analyzed, 1,643 have criminal cases, and 1,191 (14%) face serious criminal charges, including those related to rape, murder, and crimes against women.
  - 31% of candidates are crorepatis, translating to 2,572 candidates, a notable increase from previous elections.
  - The average assets per candidate amount to Rs 6.23 crores, reflecting significant wealth among the contesting candidates.
