‘I Posted It, I’m In Love’: Tej Pratap On Relationship With Anushka, His ‘Vanvaas’, ‘Rift’ With Tejashwi Over CM Chair

ABP Exclusive: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son and former Bihar minister, Tej Pratap Yadav, confirmed in an interview with ABP News that the social media post acknowledging his relationship with Anushka Yadav was indeed made by him. “The post was made from my ID; we accept this matter. We do not want to touch it,” he stated, adding, “I posted it myself, but I do not wish to focus on it.”
When asked why he initially denied posting and alleged his account was hacked, Tej Pratap responded, “The situation was such that it had to be done.”

On the viral photos with Anushka Yadav, he remarked, “I had them clicked; many people take photos with me. I don’t want to comment on this matter.”
When pressed on how he views love, Tej Pratap expressed, “Everyone falls in love… everyone has loved, and I am in love too.”
On his allegations of a political traitor or ‘Jaichand’ behind his suspension from the RJD, he stated, “Everyone knows who Jaichand is… why take names?”

Responding to speculation of a rift with his brother, Tejashwi Yadav, or his aide Sanjay Yadav, Tej Pratap said, “There's no fight with anyone...Why would there be a fight with Tejashwi, he is my younger brother, I am not so greedy as to cling to a chair. Even Lord Ram, though the elder, had to face 14 years of exile, understand that I too have been exiled.” On Sanjay Yadav’s alleged role, he added, “Ask those people only.”

'Wanted Tejashwi to Become CM': Tej Pratap Denies Wanting CM Position
Tej Pratap reflected on his political journey, saying, “This is an atmosphere of struggle for me. I never wanted to become Chief Minister; I have always said everywhere that Tejashwi should become Chief Minister. I wanted everything to happen in a normal way, but there are outsiders, enemies at every step. But we have to choose our own path.”
'Public Will Decide Who Kaikeyi Is': Tej Pratap on Family Rift
When asked who is playing the role of ‘Kaikeyi’ in the family drama, Tej Pratap replied, “The public will decide, I will not say anything; even in Lord Ram’s time, it was the public who decided and delivered justice. Whoever commits injustice will face consequences; the public and God are with me.”
On his suspension from the RJD and the 'badnaam (infamous)' tag, he also said, “I was emotional; that’s natural. One does not become infamous because someone tries to malign them. I am not infamous.”
On the status of communication with his father, he noted, “A father never wants bad for his son; whatever he says, we will follow. We are not talking now, though we spoke once or twice earlier. I don’t wish to talk about it, but it’s not in our hands anymore.” He refused to reveal further personal details.
Regarding his mother, Tej Pratap said, “With mother, there are household conversations; a mother’s love is different. She asks about whether I have eaten and sends mangoes.”
Tej Pratap Yadav's Seven-Hour Visit to Anushka’s House
On Monday, Tej Pratap Yadav visited Anushka Yadav’s house, staying for nearly seven hours. According to news agency IANS, he reached around 9 am and departed at 4 pm. Addressing reporters waiting outside, he stated, “We have a family relationship, so we have come here. No one can stop us from coming and going. We keep meeting everyone.” However, when asked, “When will you take Anushka home?” he shut the car door without responding.

This visit came 35 days after photos and videos of Tej Pratap and Anushka went viral on social media on 24 May. The next day, on 25 May, Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled Tej Pratap from both the RJD and the family for six years. Earlier, Tej Pratap had admitted in a Facebook post that the photos were genuine, revealing a 12-year-long relationship. He had stated, “Everyone loves. I did not commit any mistake. No one can remove me from the hearts of the people.”
The episode has intensified political drama in Bihar, with Tej Pratap’s personal life under public scrutiny ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also reached out through a video call, offering words of support. A video of their conversation surfaced showing Akhilesh asking about Tej Pratap’s political plans and the constituency he plans to contest in the upcoming elections.
