Lok Sabha Election 2024: Preparations In Uttarakhand

The Lok Sabha elections for all five constituencies in Uttarakhand are scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 19. To ensure a high voter turnout, over 11,000 polling booths will be set up across the state, accommodating around 75.62 lakh eligible voters. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande highlighted the arrangements being made to facilitate Persons with Disabilities (PwD) at these polling booths. This includes the provision of facilities such as the 'Saksham' app, which has been downloaded by over 51,000 individuals, as well as assistance requests for items like wheelchairs and magnifying glasses, news agency ANI reported.

Moreover, Jogdande mentioned the availability of Braille-based ballot papers and directories at every polling booth to aid visually impaired voters. Additionally, 505 voters associated with essential services have registered to vote by postal ballot, with 247 having already cast their votes.

In the context of political candidates, the BJP has fielded prominent figures such as Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Anil Baluni, Ajay Tamta, Ajay Bhatt, and Trivendra Singh Rawat, while the Congress has nominated Jot Singh Guntsola, Ganesh Godiyal, Pradeep Tamta, Prakash Joshi, and Virendra Rawat.

Uttarakhand has historically been a battleground for the BJP and Congress. In both the 2014 and 2019 general elections, the BJP-led NDA emerged victorious across all Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

(Methodology: Current survey findings and projections are based on CVoter Opinion Poll CATI interviews (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) conducted among 18+ adults statewide, all confirmed voters, details of which are mentioned right below the projections as of today. The data is weighted to the known demographic profile of the States. Sometimes the table figures do not sum to 100 due to the effects of rounding. Our final data file has Socio-Economic profile within +/- 1% of the Demographic profile of the State. We believe this will give the closest possible trends. The sample spread is across all Assembly segments in the poll bound state. MoE is +/- 3% at macro level and +/- 5% at micro level VOTE SHARE projection with 95% Confidence interval.)
