2019 LS Polls: Congress releases list of 6 Delhi candidates, fields Sheila Dikshit from North East Delhi seat

Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit has been fielded from the North East Delhi constituency. Others in the list include JP Agarwal from Chandni Chowk, Arvinder Singh Lovely from East Delhi, Ajay Maken from New Delhi, Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi and Rajesh Lilothia from North West Delhi.

The Indian National Congress (INC) announced the list of six of its seven candidates who shall be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Delhi. The All Indian Congress Committee (AICC)  via a press release officially declared the name of the candidates. Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been fielded from the North East Delhi constituency. She will take on AAP's Dilip Pandey and BJP's Manoj Tiwari. Others in the list include JP Agarwal from Chandni Chowk, Arvinder Singh Lovely from East Delhi, Ajay Maken from New Delhi, Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi and Rajesh Lilothia from North West Delhi. Here is the list of the Congress candidates for six out of the seven seats in Delhi: Chandni Chowk: JP Agarwal North East Delhi: Sheila Dikshit East Delhi: Arvinder Singh Lovely New Delhi: Ajay Maken North West Delhi: Rajeshh Lilothia West Delhi: Mahabal Mishra The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released list of four candidates, renominating four of its sitting MPs, including Union minister Harsh Vardhan. Names for the three remaining seats are expected to be announced by Monday. The party has again nominated Vardhan and BJP state unit president Manoj Tiwari from Chandni Chowk and North East Delhi seats respectively. Vardhan (64), an MBBS from GSVM medical college, Kanpur, had defeated AAP's Ashutosh in the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Chandni Chowk by a argin of 1,36,320 votes. He has won the Krishna Nagar Assembly constituency five times consecutively since 1993. In 2014, Bhojpuri singer and actor Tiwari had won from North East Delhi, which has sizeable Purvanchali and Muslim voters, by defeating AAP's Anand Kumar by 1,44,084 votes. Tiwari had unsuccessfully contested against current UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath from Gorakhpur as a Samajwadi Party candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha election. The announcement effectively ends all speculations over the possibility of a Congress-Aam Aadmi Party alliance.
