2019 LS polls results: BJP president Amit Shah wins Gandhinagar seat by record vote margin of more than 5 lakh votes

Bharatiya Janata Party's national president Amit Shah won the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat, beating his Congress rival CJ Chavda by a huge margin of 511180 votes. Advani surpassed Lok Krishna Advani's winning margin record of 4.83 lakh votes.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party's  national president Amit Shah won the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat, beating his Congress rival CJ Chavda by a huge margin of 511180 votes. Advani surpassed Lok Krishna Advani's winning margin record of 4.83 lakh votes. Gandhinagar is one of the most politically prestigious seats in Gujarat. Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwarts have contested the seat in the Lok Sabha. The Bharatiya Janata Pary had fielded Amit Shah in place of LK Advani who had won the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat six times. The BJP is set to replicate its stellar performance in the general elections in Gujarat where it swept the polls winning all 26 parliamentary seats in the state. As per latest poll trends, BJP was leading in 24 out of the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat. As per the result trends on ABP News, the BJP-led NDA was leading on more than 350 Lok Sabha seats while the Congress-led UPA was still short of the century mark. The 2019 Lok Sabha elections were held in seven phases across  542 constituencies from 11th April  to 19th May, with the counting of votes underway today and the results expected later in the evening.
