Mavelikkara: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kodikunnil Suresh from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 32737 votes. The polling / voting in Mavelikkara constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Communist Party of India#s Chittayam Gopakumar and Congress Party#s Kodikunnil suresh

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 8 out of the 20 parliamentary seat with 31.1 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 5 seats with a 21.6 percent vote share.

  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and CPI here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his CPI counterpart with a difference of 7288 votes.

PM Narendra Modi files nomination from Varanasi parliamentary constituency. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Modi, who contested from two seats -- Varanasi and Vadodara in Gujarat -- defeated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from here. Congress's Rai had finished third.
