Background

Karimnagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Vinod Kumar Boinapally from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won the elections by a margin of 204652 votes. The polling / voting in Karimnagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telangana Rashtra Samithi#s B Vinod Kumar and Congress Party#s Ponnam prabhakar

Karimnagar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telangana Rashtra Samithi won 11 out of the 17 parliamentary seat with 33.9 percent vote share while the Congress managed to win just 2 seats with a 20.5 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 72.59% Lok Sabha percent with 71.06% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 74.12% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 5734 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 17 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karimnagar, 14 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Vinod Kumar Boinapally of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi as he defeated Ponnam Prabhakar by a margin of 204652 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TRS candidate K. Chandra Shakher Rao attained 451199 votes and BJP's Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao bagged 320031 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 19370 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao attained 398437 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Anand Rao Chelimeda bagged 379067 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 95997 votes BJP candidate Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao had got 329030 while TDP got Lgandula Ramana votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 51761 votes TDP candidate Lgandula Ramana had got 235343 while INC got Chokka Rao J votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Independent candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Chokka Rao Juvvadi attained 223914 votes and IND's Krishnaiah N.V. bagged 106378 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 35192 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Chokka Rao Juvvadi attained 284200 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Anand Rao Chalimeda bagged 249008 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Independent candidate by a margin of 78607 votes INC candidate Juvvadi Chokkarao had got 243357 while IND got Chenna Reddy M. votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate M.Satyanarayana Rao attained 201777 votes and JNP's Chennamaneni Vidya Sagar Rao bagged 45449 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BLD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate M. Satyanarayan Rao attained 210349 votes and BLD's Juvvadi Gautma Rao bagged 96301 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, TPS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 10021 votes. Here, TPS leader M. Satyanarayan Rao attained 119869 votes and INC candidate V. Jalapathi Rao bagged 109848 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and IND here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his IND counterpart with a difference of 2176 votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 67403 votes INC candidate Juvvadi Ramapathi Rao had got 120472 while IND got Gurram Madhava Reddy votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PDF candidate with a difference of 27267 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader M.R. Krishna attained 158820 votes and PDF candidate Baddam Yella Reddy bagged 131553 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, PDF candidate defeated SP candidate with a difference of 42252 votes. Here, PDF leader Badan Yella Reddy attained 197234 votes and SP candidate Juvvadi Youtam Rao bagged 154982 votes
