Karimganj: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Radheshyam Biswas from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) won the elections by a margin of 102094 votes. The polling / voting in Karimganj constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Kripanath Malla and Congress Party#s Swarup das

Karimganj 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 7 out of the 14 parliamentary seat with 36.5 percent vote share while the All India United Democratic Front managed to win just 3 seats with a 14.8 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 76.07% Lok Sabha percent with 78.43% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 73.43% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 4266 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karimganj, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Radheshyam Biswas of the All India United Democratic Front as he defeated Krishna Das by a margin of 102094 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 42259 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Nepal Chandra Das attained 336799 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Parimal Suklabaidya bagged 294540 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 10468 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Nepal Chandra Das attained 288643 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Swapan Kumar Das bagged 278175 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 32749 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Dwaraka Nath Das attained 224229 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Sabita Das bagged 191480 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated JD candidate with a difference of 49753 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Dwarka Nath Das attained 231810 votes and JD candidate Jatindra Chandra Das bagged 182057 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Communist Party of India candidate by a margin of 72787 votes INC(I) candidate Nihar Ranjan Laskar had got 130933 while CPM got Kamdeb Das votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated BLD candidate with a difference of 30300 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Nihar Ranjan Laskar attained 127454 votes and BLD candidate Lilamoy Das bagged 97154 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated CPM candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Nihar Ranjan Laskar attained 149328 votes and CPM's Harinarayan Rabidas bagged 27582 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 76923 votes INC candidate N. R. Laskar had got 171048 while IND got M. Choudhury votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 50525 votes INC candidate Nihar Ranjan Laskar had got 112584 while IND got Mukteswar Choudhury votes.
