Bongaon: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kapil Krishna Thakur from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 146601 votes. The polling / voting in Bongaon constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Shantanu Thakur and All India Trinamool Congress#s Mamata Bala Thakur

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

Out of the 11 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bongaon, 8 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Kapil Krishna Thakur of the All India Trinamool Congress as he defeated Debesh Das by a margin of 146601 votes.

आम आदमी पार्टी नेता संजय सिंह ने आज उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और समाजवादी पार्टी अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव से मुलाकात की. मुलाकात के बाद उन्होंने कहा कि मैं समझता हूं कि महागठबंधन को उततर प्रदेश में 60 से अधिक सीटें मिलेगी. बीजेपी को पूरे देश में हार का सामना करने पड़े. पिछले कुछ चुनाव की तरह ही एग्जिट पोल पूरी तरह झूठ साबित होगा. विपक्षी पार्टियां केंद्र में सरकार बनाएगी.

पश्चिम बंगाल में 2 रिटायर्ड अफसरों को विशेष पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त करने के चुनाव आयोग के फैसले को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने खारिज की. कहा- चुनाव हो चुका है. इस मामले में कोर्ट दखल नहीं देगा. चुनाव आयोग ने विवेक दुबे और अजय विनायक को पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त किया था. बैरकपुर लोकसभा सीट से निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार रामू मंडी ने आरोप लगाया था कि नियुक्ति कानून का उल्लंघन है. इसका मकसद एक पक्ष को लाभ पहुंचाना है.
