Winter Vacation Extended In Haryana And Chandigarh, Schools To Remain Closed Till This Date

Haryana And Chandigarh Schools Closed: Winter Vacation is extended in Haryana and Chandigarh in view of prevailing cold weather conditions. The Haryana government on Friday extended the winter holidays in all schools in the state till January 21 According to a notice issued by Haryana's Directorate of School Education, all government and private schools will remain closed till January 21 since the winter holidays have been extended.

The schools, which were earlier scheduled to reopen on January 16, will now reopen on January 23.

The notice, however, said that classes will continue to be held for students of Class 10 and 12, who have to appear in their board examinations. 

"The Haryana government has extended the winter vacation in all the schools (government and private) in the state till January 21, 2023, due to the severe winter. All schools will remain closed during the said time period. From 23 January 2023, the schools will be opened again," the official statement reads.

Keeping in view the severe cold conditions in north India, the Union Territory of Chandigarh has extended the winter break for students up to the eighth standard. According to an official notification, the winter vacation for students up to class 8 in the Government, Government aided and recognized Private schools of the Union Territory has been extended till 21 January 2023. However, classes for classes 9 to 12 will continue as per previous instructions.

Schools in Delhi will be remained closed till January 15. The Delhi government has advised all private schools to remain closed till January 15 due to the cold wave.

"Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions very likely in some parts of north Rajasthan and cold wave conditions in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh," the India Meteorological Department said.
