Tamil Nadu: PM Modi Attends 38th Convocation Ceremony Of Bharathidasan University

PM Modi on Tuesday attended the 38th convocation ceremony of Bharathidasan University in Tamil Nadu.

Tiruchirappalli: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attended the 38th Convocation Ceremony of Bharathidasan University in Tamil Nadu. Governor RN Ravi and CM MK Stalin were also present at the Convocation Ceremony. Indian innovators took the number of patents from around 4,000 in 2014 to almost 50,000 now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here. PM Modi said that Indian youth are already shaping a remarkable world. He praised Indian scientists for their global presence through missions like Chandrayaan, noting the significant increase in patents from around 4,000 in 2014 to nearly 50,000 today. 

Also, the nation's musicians and artists were continuously bringing international awards for the country, he said.

He stressed the true essence of education as giving back to society and contributing to a better nation.

During a brief interaction with students, Modi inquired if anyone was keen on going to Delhi, to which two female students enthusiastically raised their hands. He paid tribute to Bharathidasan, a revered Tamil poet, by offering floral respects to his bust. Later, he joined a group photograph with students, Governor R N Ravi, and Chief Minister M K Stalin.

The Prime Minister embarks on a two-day visit to the southern region, set to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects totaling over Rs 19,850 crore. These projects span aviation, rail, road, oil and gas, shipping, and higher education sectors. Among these endeavors, the inauguration of the new terminal building at Trichy airport is a highlight, constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 1100 crore.

The state-of-the-art two-level international terminal is designed to accommodate over 44 lakh passengers annually, catering to around 3,500 individuals during peak hours. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) previously communicated these details through an official release.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's itinerary includes visits to Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala on January 2 and 3, where these significant ventures will be unveiled, marking a substantial leap in regional development.
