SBI PO 2024: The State Bank of India Probationary Officer, SBI PO role is one of the popular roles in the banking sector. Many aspiring candidates are curious about the job duties and the attractive salary that comes with this role. The SBI PO examination is conducted to recruit probationary officers for several branches of the bank within the nation. The SBI PO examination is conducted in three phases: the Preliminary (Prelims) exam, the Main examination, and the final interview session. Here is a simple explanation of the SBI PO job role and salary for 2024.

SBI PO Salary

SBI PO salary ranges between Rs 52,000 to 55,000 per month with basic pay of Rs 41,960. The Gross compensation ranges between Rs 8.20 Lakhs (minimum) to Rs 13.08 lakhs (maximum) per annum.

The SBI Probationary Officers also get medical allowances, lease rental/HRA, CCA, and reimbursements other than the basic pay. However, the number and amount of allowances differ according to the location of the job. Additional allowances are given below:

  • Dearness allowance: 49.9% of the basic pay
  • Medical insurance: 100% for employees and 75% for families
  • Total compensation (Annually): 7.5 lakhs to 12.9 lakhs
  • Miscellaneous: Rs 4,000

SBI PO Job Role 

The role of a bank’s Probationary Officer (PO) includes acting as a Public Relations Manager, addressing customer complaints, and resolving various customer-related issues.  During the probation period, candidates are engaged in various bank-related activities to become familiar with the bank's operations. Candidates receive training in departments such as Finance, Marketing, Billing, Accounts, and Investments to gain practical knowledge. Probationary Officers are generally responsible for handling customer queries and complaints about the bank’s services, issuing ATM cards, processing demand drafts and checkbooks, correcting charges, and resolving account discrepancies.
