As of now, there are various boards and commissions which look after the recruitment of teachers in Uttar Pradesh at various levels of basic, secondary, higher and technical educational institutions in the state.

The recruitment of teaching personnel in Minority institutions at the secondary and higher secondary levels is done through the Board of Management for minority institutions while that in technical institutions is done through the Board of Governance or Board of Directors for technical institutions, the chief minister said.
A unified commission would help bring out practical reforms in the education system of the state, he further added. 'Uttar Pradesh Siksha Seva Chayan Ayog' (Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission) should be formed as a corporate body by giving an integrated form to teacher selection commissions, the chief minister was reported as saying.
The new commission shall operate as an autonomous corporation and frame its own regulations pertaining to the recruitment of teachers in the state. Calling upon officials to draft a proposal and the outline of the new commission, he also added that the chairman and members, powers and functions of the Commission should also be decided.
The chief minister further stated that a vice-chancellor from a university or someone senior official of the Indian Administrative Services should be the chairman of the commission. The members of the commission could be senior judges and educationists, he added.
He further underlined that the commission should also ensure proper representation with members from other backward classes, scheduled castes/tribes, women and minorities. Besides recruiting teachers at various levels in the state, the commission shall also conduct the UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teachers Eligibility Test), he added.
