NEET PG 2024 Result: Supreme Court To Resume Hearing Shortly, Counselling Schedule Soon On mcc.nic.in

NEET-PG Supreme Court Hearing: The Supreme Court will resume hearing on the petition demanding release of official answer key.

NEET PG 2024 Counselling Round 1 registration is currently underway, though the counselling schedule is still pending as the matter remains under review by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will resume hearing the NEET PG case. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) started the NEET PG 2024 counselling registration for Round 1 on September 20, 2024. Candidates who appeared for the NEET PG exam can register for the counselling process through the official website at mcc.nic.in.

On Friday, the Supreme Court issued a notice in response to a writ petition calling for greater transparency in the NEET PG exams. The Court expressed dissatisfaction with the National Board of Education’s last-minute changes to the exam pattern. The matter will be heard again on September 27, according to Live Law.

Senior Advocate Vibha Makhija, representing the petitioners, criticised the new marks normalisation policy introduced just three days before the exam, describing it as a "knee-jerk reaction." She highlighted the lack of regulations from the NBE governing exam conduct, emphasising that everything relies on a single information bulletin that can be altered at the authorities' discretion.

Addressing the NBE's counsel, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) questioned why the exam pattern was modified so close to the exam date, stating, "They claim you haven't framed regulations; everything relies on the brochure, and just three days before the exam, the entire pattern is changed—how can you do this?"

The NBE's counsel responded that no unusual changes had been made. The CJI countered, "It is very unusual! Three days before the examinations? Students will have a meltdown!"

The bench, led by CJI DY Chandrachud and comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, issued a notice in the case and directed the NBE and the Union to submit their responses within a week.

On August 11, the exam was conducted in two shifts, and a normalisation process was applied. Students raised concerns, alleging that this process introduced discrepancies. In response, they filed a petition to release the exam's answer keys, so they could verify their scores independently.
