NEET Cheating Scam: UP Police Send Report To Hold Results Of 25 Candidates To NTA
A complete bio-data of the accused candidates have been prepared and sent to the agency, Varanasi Commissioner of Police informed ANI.
New Delhi: Amidst the speculations regarding the announcement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2021 results, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police have submitted a report to the National Testing Agency (NTA) asking to withhold the results of the 25 candidates allegedly involved in the NEET cheating scam.
A complete bio-data of the accused candidates have been prepared and sent to the agency, Varanasi Commissioner of Police informed ANI. As per the Commissioner, sample fingerprints were collected from the candidates to match them with the fingerprints on the forms.
"After some time, teams will be sent to other states for discussion. A strategy for further action in the NEET solver gang case has been prepared and solid evidence is being gathered to oppose the anticipatory bail," the Commissioner was quoted by ANI in its report.
Previously in September, the mastermind behind the NEET cheating scam was identified by the Varanasi Police as Nilesh Singh aka PK. He is allegedly running a "NEET solver gang" in which he recruits people who appear in the NEET examination in lieu of the candidates in order to get them the medical seat. In order to crack the NEET exam, the gang charges a hefty amount from the candidates. Since the case has been filed against PK, he along with his family are allegedly on the run.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is likely to declare the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2021 soon on its official website. The agency had conducted the NEET UG 2021 examination on September 12, 2021, at various centres spread across the country. This year, as many as 16.14 lakh candidates had registered for the NEET UG 2021 exam, out of which, 95% of the candidates appeared in the medical entrance examination.
