Six MBBS Candidates Caught With Forged NRI Certificates

Six MBBS aspirants under the non-resident Indian (NRI) quota were found to have submitted forged embassy certificates, with three of them securing seats in self-financing medical colleges, the state selection committee for medical admissions revealed on Friday.

The committee cancelled the MBBS seats allotted to the three candidates and announced that these seats would now be included in the seat matrix for the special stray vacancy round scheduled next week.

Following document verification with respective embassies and consulates, the candidature of all six candidates was cancelled. Embassies in Canada, Dubai, Riyadh, and Jeddah confirmed that the certificates submitted by the candidates were fake. Officials from the embassies have also requested an action taken report from the government.

“We will be initiating legal action against the candidates. Their applications have been declared invalid,” a senior official said. The committee added that replies from a few other embassies are still awaited.
