Madhya Pradesh To Offer MBBS In Hindi, Says State Medical Education Minister

Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College to start offering MBBS course in Hindi from April, informed medical education minister Vishwas Sarang on Thursday

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh government is set to offer the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course to medical aspirants in Hindi medium in one of its medical colleges.

Medical education minister Vishwas Sarang on Thursday informed that the MBBS will now be taught in Hindi, news agency ANI reported.

According to the minister, Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College will be the first one to offer MBBS courses in Hindi from April this year.

Sharing details at a press conference in Bhopal, Vishwas Sarang said, “MBBS will be taught in Hindi medium. Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College to start offering MBBS course in Hindi from April.”

 “Various researches have also shown that learning in mother tongue is beneficial and has better results,” the minister added.

In line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 that calls for imparting education in mother tongue, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the first time in July 2021 granted permission to 14 colleges across the country to offer select engineering courses in regional languages.

Eight of these 14 colleges will offer BTech courses in Hindi. Others will provide an option of pursuing technical education in Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu. It had extended approval to six more engineering colleges to teach in regional languages taking the total number of engineering colleges to 20 across 10 states .

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had extended the date of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) MDS 2022 by four to six weeks.

While making the announcement, the ministry also said that the date of completion of a compulsory rotating internship for eligibility for admission to MDS courses has been fixed at July 31 instead of March 31 this year.
