Kamasutra Introduced In Jamia University Library. Here's What It Is Called In Urdu

Jamia Millia Islamia's rare manuscript collection now includes an Urdu translation of the Kamasutra, along with epics like the Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, and Padmavat.

The Kamasutra, written by Maharshi Vatsyayana, is one of the world's best-selling books. It is a text that remains constantly discussed and relevant. Many people think that the Kamasutra is just a book based on sexual acts and sex, but it is way more than that. The text also contains a lot about the behaviour and philosophy of men, women, and their relationships.

Maharshi Vatsyayana wrote the Kamasutra in Sanskrit. It has been translated into many languages. But do you know what this book is called in Urdu? In fact, Jamia Millia Islamia, one of the country's top universities in the country, has included the Urdu translation of this text in its library.

What Is The Urdu Version Of Kamasutra Called?

Jamia Millia Islamia has included the Urdu translation of this text in its rare manuscript collection. The Urdu translation of the Kamasastra has been added to Jamia's Dr Zakir Husain Library under the name 'Lazzat-un-Nisa'. Jamia has stated that the Urdu translation, Lazzat-un-Nisa, was completed by Malik Majazi Dehlvi.

The Lazzat-un-Nisa is often called the 'Kamasutra of Hyderbad'. According to a 2019 TOI report, the Lazzat-un-Nisa is actually an Urdu translation of Kokashastra, which was based on the Kama Sutra.

Jamia Millia Islamia has stated that the digitised Persian translations of the Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, and the Awadhi epic Padmavat by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in Urdu have also been added to the Dr Zakir Husain Library. It should be noted that this year, Jamia has included 13 manuscripts and translations. So far, more than six lakh books, including 6,000 rare books and 2243 rare manuscripts, have been included in the library.
