MP Cabinet Increases Women's Reservation In State Government Jobs To 35%

The MP Cabinet has approved increasing job reservation for women in state services from 33% to 35%.

Bhopal: In a significant move, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to raise the reservation for women in state government jobs from 33% to 35%, as reported by news agency PTI. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla announced that the increased 35% women’s quota will apply to all recruitments conducted by the state Public Service Commission and the Employees Selection Board.

Officials stated that to facilitate this change, the cabinet ratified the chief minister's September 13, 2023, decision and subsequent notification under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provisions for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997.

Additionally, Shukla said the cabinet agreed to raise the upper age limit for assistant professor recruitment in medical colleges from 40 to 50 years.

Several other proposals were also approved, including the establishment of 254 new fertilizer sales centers in 2024-25 for the kharif and rabi seasons.

INDIA Bloc Promises 10 Lakh Jobs In Jharkhand

The INDIA bloc on Tuesday unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, promising 10 lakh jobs for youth and health insurance coverage of up to Rs 15 lakh for the poor.

The BJP, on the other hand, called the JMM and Congress "experts in making false promises".

The '7 guarantees', the election manifesto of the INDIA bloc, includes social justice by enhancing reservations for STs to 28 per cent from 26 per cent, for SCs to 12 per cent from 10 per cent and for OBCs to 27 per cent from 14 per cent at present.

"INDIA bloc will ensure 10 lakh jobs for youth and Rs 15 lakh health cover for the poor," Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said while jointly releasing the manifesto with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and RJD's JP Yadav.

Kharge said, "Whenever we talk about any guarantees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately criticises it... PM Modi came here and during his speech, he mentioned my name and said that there is no reliability of Congress's guarantees... Congress fulfills all its guarantees but Modi's guarantees never get fulfilled." INDIA bloc promised to increase the free monthly ration for the poor to 7 kg from 5 kg and make available gas cylinders at Rs 450 in Jharkhand as against BJP's promise of providing it at Rs 500 in addition to two free cylinders during festivals.
