Bihar CHO Exam Cancelled Over Malpractice; Raids Uncover Irregularities, 12 Detained

The Bihar CHO exams on December 1 and 2, 2024, were cancelled due to malpractice at exam centres.

The Community Health Officer (CHO) examination, conducted by the Bihar State Health Society on December 1, 2024, was cancelled due to alleged irregularities at several online exam centres. The exam scheduled for December 2 has also been cancelled. Authorities have announced that new exam dates will be declared later.

The decision to cancel the exams was made after evidence of malpractice was uncovered at multiple exam centres, including some already flagged as suspicious. The recruitment process was aimed at filling 4,500 CHO positions.

On Sunday, Patna police conducted simultaneous raids at 12 online centres, including locations in Ramkrishna Nagar, and detained over 12 individuals. Two centres were sealed, and several items, including documents, were seized for investigation.

Reports suggest that leaked audio clips and WhatsApp chats related to the CHO exam had gone viral two days earlier, prompting the State Health Society to seek an investigation by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).

Acting on this, police intensified their crackdown, leading to the discovery of irregularities before the exam began. Officials are currently questioning the detainees, and a thorough examination of the seized materials is underway. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.

Rajasthan JEN Paper Leak Case: Railway Employee Arrested By SOG

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police on Thursday arrested a 39-year-old railway employee, Kamlesh Kumar Meena, for his alleged role in the Junior Engineer (JEN) recruitment exam paper leak case of 2020.

Additional Director General of Police (SOG) VK Singh confirmed that Meena, currently working as a Railway Group 'D' Technician Grade I at the Carriage Factory in North Western Railway, Ajmer, was apprehended from Panipetch near Shastri Nagar, Jaipur.

An FIR related to the paper leak was filed at Sanganer police station in Jaipur, and a court warrant against Meena was issued on January 29, 2024. Since then, Meena had been absconding.

SOG officials stated that Meena was a close associate of Bhupendra Saran, a previously arrested key member of the paper leak syndicate. Further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the racket.
