Jammu and Kashmir School Reopening: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday allowed the reopening of higher educational institutes and schools for classes 10 and 12 students with certain conditions. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by chief secretary AK Mehta. It has also been decided to maintain the covid-19 containment guidelines including night curfew. Significantly, in a series of measures aimed at preventing the spread of the corona pandemic, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had on April 18 ordered closure of all educational institutes, including universities and colleges, till further orders.

In an order issued after reviewing the COVID-19 situation, State Executive Committee (SEC) chairman Mehta said that the class attendance for class 12 students on the allotted days shall not exceed 50 per cent. As per the order, consent will be obtained from the parents of all the students who want to attend school. The school campus should be fully sanitized, the proper screening will be done at the school gate in respect of vaccination. "If a student or teacher or other school staff show symptoms of cough, cold, or fever, they will not be allowed to enter the school. At the same time, the order also says, "The head of the school has to ensure that the guidelines relating to social distancing and covid protocols are strictly followed. "

The deputy commissioner can allow classes individually for class 10 students following all protocols. The order said, "Schools shall remain closed for on-site/in-person teaching, except for the relaxation provided for students of class 10 and class 12.

Coaching centres to open for vaccinated teachers and students:

At the same time, coaching centres for civil service or engineering or NEET examinations will be allowed to operate with limited personal teaching for fully vaccinated employees and students. "All other coaching centers will remain closed for onsite/in-person teaching," the order said.
