ICSE, ISC Board Exams 2020: Students Allowed To Change Exam Centre For Pending Tests

After CBSE, CISCE has decided to allow students to change their exams center as many of them had gone back to their hometown when the Covid-19 lockdown was enforced.

New Delhi: After the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has permitted students to change their exam centre and give their pending board exams from the city that they are currently residing in. The school boards are taking this decision after taking cognisance of the fact that many students went back to their hometown during lockdown when all classes and exams were put on hold. As exams preparations are resuming, it is important that the candidates get to sit for them from the city they are presently in. According to officials, students can also opt for giving exams at a later point when the compartmental tests are conducted. After the postponement due to Coronavirus lockdown, the exams have been scheduled to held from July 1 to 14. "We have received requests from schools and parents for a change in the candidate's exam centre. To ensure that students who are not present in the district where their school is located, the candidates have been allowed to appear for the remaining examinations from an exam centre located in a CISCE affiliated school in the location they are in," said Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary, CISCE. The students have to make the request their schools by June 7 for changing their exam centre. The Council has directed the school administrations to see to it that social distancing norms are followed and has asked them to ensure that candidates carry hand sanitisers and wear face masks. CISCE will conduct all pending exams, unlike CBSE which has opted to have exams for 29 important subjects that are mandatory for admissions in higher educational institutions. CBSE exams are to held from July 1 to 15. After postponement, the school board had to schedule the board exams keeping in mind that they are completed before competitive exams begin. JEE-Mains, the engineering entrance exam, will be held from July 18 to July 23 and NEET, the medical entrance exam, is scheduled for July 26.
