Chhattisgarh Schools Closed: All schools in Chhattisgarh will remain closed till June 26. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken a thoughtful decision considering the scorching heat in the state. The summer vacation has been extended from June 15 to June 26. As per the Chief Minister's instructions, all schools in Chhattisgarh will remain closed until June 26 to protect students from the intense heat. The Chief Minister has issued clear instructions regarding this matter. Consequently, schools in Chhattisgarh will reopen on June 27.
Notably, in the past few days, there has been a steady rise in the summer heat in several parts of the country with the meteorological department hinting at strong heat waves. In th wake of intensifying heat and alerts from the weatherman, several state governments have rushed in to help minimize the risk of heat strokes amongst children, who are at a higher risk from the adverse effects of heatwaves.
Following the development, the Jharkhand government on June 12, announced the closure of schools across the state for a period of three days. The secretary of the school education and literacy department, Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar, issued an official order on Sunday stating that due to the extreme temperatures and heatwave conditions, all types of schools, including government, non-government aided/non-aided (including minority), and private schools operating in the state, will remain closed from June 12 to June 14.
Similarly, teh Patna District Administration earlier directed to close all schools in the city from June 12 to June 18. Earlier on June 10 the Directorate of Education, Goa, also issued a circular announcing closure of all institutions on June 10. "Due to extreme heat and delay of the monsoons in the state, it is decided by the competent authority to close down all institutions on 10/06/2023. All the heads of Govt/Govt aided/unaided primary/middle/secondary/higher secondary and special schools are hereby requested to compensate for the academic loss in future, if any," read the circular.
