CBSE 2025 Board Exams Kick Off With Record Numbers

CBSE Board Exams 2025: The exams will run from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Strict security measures are in place, with students undergoing checks, and mobile phones or electronic items strictly prohibited

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced its 2025 board examinations, with more than 42 lakh students appearing across 7,842 examination centres in India and 26 other countries.

According to the CBSE, 24,12,072 students are taking the Class 10 examinations, which cover 84 subjects, while 17,88,165 students are appearing for the Class 12 exams, covering 120 subjects. This marks a major rise of 3,14,695 candidates compared to the 38,85,542 students who appeared last year.

On the first day, Class 10 students will undertake the English (Communicative) and English (Language and Literature) papers, whereas Class 12 students will sit for the entrepreneurship paper. The exams are scheduled from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with strict entry regulations in place.

Entry Rules For Students

Students must arrive before latest by 10 AM, as late entry is not permitted after that.

Students are not allowed to leave the exam hall before 1:30 PM.

Regular students must carry their admit cards and school ID, while private candidates need to present a government-issued photo ID.

Regular students must wear their school uniforms, whereas private candidates are advised to wear light-coloured clothing.

Prohibited Items At Exam Centres

CBSE has enforced a strict ban on certain items inside exam centres, including:

Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, earphones, and microphones

Wallets, handbags, goggles, and pouches

Security Measures At Exam Centres

To ensure fair and transparent exams, CBSE has implemented CCTV surveillance at all examination centres:

Each exam room will accommodate 24 students with two invigilators present.

CCTV footage will be monitored by assistant superintendents overseeing every 10 rooms.

Schools failing to provide CCTV footage when requested will be held accountable for any malpractice.

CBSE chairperson Rahul Singh stressed the board’s dedication to conducting secure and transparent exams. "From model question papers to the secure transportation of actual question papers, every precaution has been taken to ensure smooth examinations," he stated, encouraging students to perform without unnecessary pressure.

CBSE has refined its process for verifying marks, allowing students to request photocopies of their answer sheets and apply for mark verification or re-evaluation, if necessary.

The CBSE 2025 board exams will conclude on March 18 for Class 10 and April 4 for Class 12. CBSE remains committed to upholding high standards of security and fairness for students across India and beyond.
