The Education Minister was earlier scheduled to make the announcement on December 17 but it was postponed to December 22, considering the overwhelming response. On the micro-blogging site Twitter, the Education Ministry on Monday tweeted, "Teachers, tomorrow is the day! Education Minister Goes Live. Meet Union Education Minister Shri Dr R P Nishank live tomorrow on his Twitter/Facebook pages and interact with him. Hope to see you all there!" In a video released on Monday, Pokhriyal praised teachers for going beyond their call of duty to help students during the pandemic and seeking suggestions from them on how to conduct exams if the situation normalises.
What is expected to be discussed in the webinar? Class X, XII board exam schedule: Students are hugely anticipating the examination dates of the CBSE Board Exams 2021 , and it is expected that Education Minister might announce the dates in the webinar session today. Practical examinations: In fact, there are expectations that the minister will give some clarity about conducting practical examinations. In the last webinar, the minister had hinted that it is possible that the CBSE would opt for an alternative to practical exams in 2021 as most of the schools across the country remained close for the entire academic session due to pandemic. "If students are not able to go to schools for practical exams, alternate options will be given", Nishank had said earlier. However, till now there is no official confirmation on this. Teachers and students have raised doubts about conducting the CBSE Board Exams this year since schools were closed for almost nine months, and online teaching was also hampered due to poor network connectivity.  Teachers are insisting on doing away with CBSE practical examinations in absence of physical sessions due to pandemic. Teachers have suggested scoring the students based upon internal assessment and written assignments. A few months ago, CBSE had gone ahead and reduced the syllabus for Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 because schools were closed due to lockdown and academic session was hampered because of the coronavirus situation in the country. Meanwhile, the Union Education Minister last week announced the exam schedule of JEE Main 2021 and the number of times the exams will be held in 2021.
