Assam Education Minister Debunks Claims Of HSLC Geography Paper Leak, Claims Rumours As Fake

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to twitter to claim that the reports of Assam HSLC Geography Paper Leak are fake, and also asked authorities to file an FIR into the matter.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has debunked claims of Assam HSLC Geography question paper leak rumours doing rounds on the internet. The minister has claimed the rumours to be ‘fake.’

The Assam Education Minister took to twitter to clarify the rumours and also instructed the concerned officer to lodge an FIR in the case. In his tweet, Ranoj Pegu also underlined that the question paper being circulated on the internet is from 2021. 

“The Geography Question Paper circulated in social media allegedly of leak is fake. SEBA authority has confirmed that it is fake. Instructed concerned officer to lodge FIR in Police station,” Ranoj Pegu tweeted.

 Notably, the rumours about the Assam HSLC Geography question paper leak surfaced days before the scheduled conduct of the exam. As per the official schedule, the Geography paper of the Assam HSLC Exam 2023 is scheduled to be conducted on March 20, 2023.

However, this is not the first time that rumours around Assam HSLC paper leak have emerged. Earlier, several social media reports also claimed that the Assam HSLC Chemistry Question paper was also leaked. It was Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu who himself took cognizance of the Chemistry paper leak reports and debunked them as well. 

"The news of Chemistry question paper leak in the current HS examination is completely fake and baseless. I have personally checked the matter. We are taking utmost care and maintaining vigilance. Please don’t heed fake news and rumours,” Ranoj Pegu tweeted earlier. 

Earlier, in a series of Assam HSLC Paper Leak cases, the General Science and Assamese exams were cancelled owing to paper leak. “The investigation has revealed that the question paper of the General Science examination were sold for anything between Rs 100 and Rs 3,000. We have found that somewhere it was sold for Rs 100, somewhere for Rs 200-300, and it went up to Rs 3,000. Assistance is being sought from WhatsApp to identify the origin of the leak,” Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh was reported saying by The Indian Express. 

In the meantime, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, directed the state board of secondary education (SEBA) to cancel the Assamese paper exam and reschedule it to a later date.
