Amid rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, Gujarat Government has ordered to close offline classes in all government and private colleges across the state till month end.

Earlier this week, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani-led government, following the Gujarat High Court’s instructions, decided to impose night curfew in 20 cities of the state between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The Chief Minister in official order said the government offices will remain closed on Saturdays till April 30. He further said that only up to 100 people would be allowed at weddings, adding grand events have been postponed until April 30.
The state government also decided to conduct polls for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation as per the Election Commission’s guidelines.
This came as the Gujarat High Court earlier in the day suggested the state government to impose lockdown for three to four days to curb rising cases of the Covid-19 pandemic. The High Court asked the state government to take “urgent and serious steps” to curb the spread of the virus while pointing out the situation is almost reaching a point where lockdown appears necessary.
Gujarat on Sunday reported 5,469 new COVID19 cases and 54 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the latest data provided by state health bulletin, the state case tally now stands at 3,47,495 with as many as 27,568 active cases.
