36 Punjab Govt School Principals To Travel To Singapore For Training: CM Bhagwant Mann

The school principals will be attending a training program at the Principal’s Academy in Singapore.

The Punjab government will send 36 government school teachers to Singapore for a training programme. The Punjab government school teachers will be leaving for Singapore on February 4, and will return back home on February 11. The teachers will be taking part in a professional teachers training programme to be held from February 6 to 10.

The move comes as the backdrop of Punjab’s AAP government’s promise to transform the state education system in the run-up to Punjab assembly elections last year. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann sees the training of principals as a key as a major step in reforming the education system of the state.

Earlier, in December 2022, the Punjab government announced that it will be sending a group of school principals to the Principal’s Academy in Singapore, and the National Institute of Education for a comprehensive training programme.

“Thousands of students across the state will benefit from this step as these principals will share their experience with their colleagues and students which will help in further upscaling the expertise and professional ability of the teachers to impart quality education to students", Mann was quoted saying by PTI.

“The AAP had given a "guarantee" to transform the state's education system in the run-up to last year's assembly elections, he said. Since teachers are nation builders who can lift the level of education, it was guaranteed that their teaching skills would be upgraded by ensuring quality training,”  Mann was further quoted saying by PTI.

Once the principals return back from Singapore, they will be sharing their experiences with colleagues and students. The training program will help uplift the professional expertise of the teachers, allowing them to further impart quality education to students. The trained and upskilled teachers will eventually prove to be a milestone in reforming the education system of the state, Bhagwant Mann, further added.
