'Kejriwal Govt Acts Like A Gang': BJP MLAs React After Delhi HC Revokes Assembly Suspension

Challenging their suspension, the seven BJP MLAs moved the Delhi High Court, which reserved its verdict on the pleas on February 27. On Wednesday, March 6, the court overturned the suspension.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs in Delhi thanked the High Court on Saturday for lifting their suspension. BJP MLAs Vijender Gupta and Mohan Singh Bisht praised the move, claiming that all BJP MLAs were targeted so that their voices could be silenced.

The Delhi High Court, during the hearing of pleas filed by seven BJP MLAs, set aside their suspension from the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday. The MLAs faced suspension in February by the Delhi Assembly Speaker for causing interruptions during the Lieutenant Governor's address.

The BJP MLAs in question - Mohan Singh Bisht, Ajay Mahawar, O P Sharma, Abhay Verma, Anil Bajpai, Jitender Mahajan, and Vijender Gupta - had protested during Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's speech, causing ten interruptions in his address within 30 minutes.

Speaking to news agency ANI, BJP MLA Vijender Gupta stated, "This is a victory of democracy. The chosen members of the opposition were removed from the Assembly through an unconstitutional proposal. We were removed so that we could not raise our voices against Arvind Kejriwal's corruption. The state government is working like a gang, we oppose it".

Mohan Singh Bisht, another BJP MLA, commented, "The way we were removed from the Assembly, undoubtedly it was done to save the (state) government. Today, the Delhi High Court has given this historic verdict... We will tell the government that it is a matter of concern as they have reduced the budget. There is no development in Delhi".

The dispute arose when AAP MLA Dilip Pandey sought action against the BJP MLAs, leading Speaker Ram Niwas Goel to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee. The Assembly passed a proposal to suspend the seven BJP MLAs from participating in the House proceedings until the committee submits its report.
