A man from the rally while talking to news agency PTI said, "Wearing Khalsa on your head is no joke. And the ones in today's time who are busy breaking the nation into pieces and trying to see their profit in this, can't be real Sikhs."
Another person while talking to the media said, "Everyone in Punjab is a patriot. We walk on the same path that was shown to us by Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar. They sacrificed their lives for this nation while having a smile on their faces." He then further said, "People like Amritpal have no place either in our society or our hearts. The whole Sikh community boycotts him."
In a recent development into the Amritpal Singh row, a woman in Punjab’s Patiala was arrested for allegedly giving shelter to the Waris Punjab De chief and his associates, said the Punjab Police officials on Sunday.
As per a senior police official, the fugitive Khalistani leader and his aide Papalpreet Singh had allegedly stayed at the residence of Balbir Kaur in Patiala's Hargobind Nagar on March 19, reported PTI. The woman allegedly sheltered Amritpal and Papalpreet for five to six hours before they moved to Shahabad in Haryana's Kurukshetra district, the police said.
On March 18, the police had launched a crackdown against elements of 'Waris Punjab De,' headed by pro-Khalistan radical preacher Amritpal Singh.
The Punjab Police on Sunday said it has released 197 people out of the total 353 taken into preventive custody on apprehension of breach of peace and disturbance of law and order.
