Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann To Meet Arvind Kejriwal In Tihar Jail Today: AAP

This will be the first meeting between Kejriwal and Mann since Delhi CM was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is set to meet Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently held in Tihar jail, on Monday inside the prison complex, the party stated, news agency ANI reported. This will be the first meeting between Kejriwal and Mann since Delhi CM was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, in connection with a money laundering case linked to now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.

Earlier, a meeting between the two leaders along with Sanjay Singh, scheduled for last week, was deferred as prison officials cited mixed-up of names, and security concerns. Singh stated that the meeting did not take place despite jail officials allocating a token. However, officials clarified that the proposed meeting was cancelled at the last minute due to an error in the booking process of the appointment.

Kejriwal is currently lodged in Jail number 2 in the Tihar prison.

Each prisoner in Delhi's jails has the right to provide the names of 10 people who are permitted to visit them twice a week. However, only three visitors are allowed to meet the prisoner simultaneously. These names must be submitted to the jail superintendent for verification.

According to a PTI report, Tihar jail officials, Delhi Police and Punjab Police, earlier last week, discussed the security arrangement for Bhagwant Mann’s meeting with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the jail.

The meeting at the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Tihar was held to coordinate security preperations and fulfill formal requirements, as stipulated in the Delhi Prison Rules, for organising a meeting between the two AAP leaders.
