No Flights Will Operate To And From Delhi Airport For 2 Hours Till Republic Day

From January 19 to 26, no flights will arrive or depart from Delhi's airport between 10.20 a.m. and 12.45 p.m., an official said on Friday.

There will be no flight arrivals or departures at the Delhi airport from 10.20 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. every day until January 26 to prepare for and celebrate Republic Day, according to an official, news agency PTI reported. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has changed its NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) to include the new limitations. Previously, the limits were solely in force for non-scheduled flights, with some exceptions. From January 19 to 26, no flights will arrive or depart from Delhi's airport between 10.20 a.m. and 12.45 p.m., an official said on Friday.

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) is a notice that contains important information for persons involved in flight operations.

Airspace restrictions in the national capital will be in effect from Friday (January 19) to Monday (January 29) in conjunction with Republic Day preparations and celebrations.

Non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines, as well as chartered flights, will not be permitted to land or take off between 10 a.m. and 1.15 p.m. on January 19-25. According to the NOTAM released earlier this week, these limits will apply from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on January 26 and 29.

NOTAM will have no effect on IAF, BSF, or Army aviation helicopter activities, as well as state-owned aircraft/helicopters flying with the Governor/Chief Minister of the state.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital is the country's largest airport, handling over 1,300 flights every day.

Republic Day 2024

On January 26, 1950, the Indian Constitution was adopted, and the country was declared a republic. Every year, the ceremonies celebrating the day encompass tremendous military and cultural extravaganza. In New Delhi, armed forces members march down the Kartavya Path in a spectacular demonstration of military power.

The spectacular performance overshadows everything else going on around the country on this special day. The Republic Day ceremonies run three days, culminating with the Beating Retreat ritual on January 29. The French President, Emmanuel Macron, has been asked to be the keynote guest at this year's Republic Day celebrations.

This is the sixth time a French leader will be the chief guest at Republic Day festivities in the nation's capital.
