Manish Sisodia In Letter From Jail Says BJP Regime Akin To British Raj: 'Arrogant About Powers'

The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday shared a letter written by jailed senior party leader Manish Sisodia, addressing the people of his assembly constituency. In the letter, the former deputy Chief Minister compared his plight with the atrocities committed by the Britishers against freedom fighters.

"The British were also very arrogant about their power. With the might of their authority, they would throw anyone they wished into jail by levelling various false accusations. They also thought that the walls of jail would break the morale of those fighting for freedom," he wrote in the letter.

"They sunk so low in their arrogance of power that they put Gandhi Ji in jail several times for many years by imposing false allegations and authoritarian laws. But history bears witness that the sun of the British rule, who put Mahatma Gandhi, a saint, in jail with false accusations and tyranny, eventually set," the former Delhi education minister added.

Sisodia, who has been arrested in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam case, also stated in his letter that even after 75 years of independence people are fighting for good education, schools, and colleges in the country.

"Just as despite all the tyranny and oppression of the British rule, the dream of independence was realized, I am fully confident that one day the dream of providing proper and quality education to every child of our India, from the capital Delhi to the far-flung villages, will also be fulfilled," Sisodia wrote.

The former Delhi education minister stated in his letter that his time in jail has strengthened his resolve to establish an education system where Indians can confidently say that in every village, town, and city, there is a splendid and free education system for every child. 

He also said that the struggle for good education and schools is underway and compared the situation to people fighting for India's freedom. "Good education is necessary for a developed country," he added. 

Calling the AAP workers the soldiers of the education revolution, Sisodia stated that he is pleased to hear news about the significant change that has happened under the leadership of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, not only in Delhi but in Punjab as well.

Towards the end of the letter, he also expressed hope to be out of jail soon and stated that his love for the people of his constituency has increased while being incarcerated and that they were his strength.

"Take care of yourselves. And from my side, give love, blessings, and respect to everyone in your family. We will meet soon. Education Revolution - Zindabad! Love you all," Sisodia stated in the letter's end.

The bail hearing for Manish Sisodia is scheduled to be heard in a Delhi court on Saturday.
