'No More Nice Words...' Denmark Diplomat Shares Video Of 'Trashy' Reality Near Delhi Embassy
Sharing a video on X, Denmark's representative to India, Freddy Svane spoke about the unsightly scene outside the embassy walls. He, expressing concern, called for immediate action.
In a quiet yet powerful gesture, Denmark’s diplomatic envoy to India, Freddy Svane, brought attention to a pressing issue confronting New Delhi: its mounting trash problem. Sharing a video on X on Wednesday, Svane spoke about the unsightly scene outside the embassy walls. He, expressing concern, called for immediate action. However, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) cleaned up the area hours after Svane posted the video.
In the video, Svane stood on a road adjacent to the embassy, showing the litter strewn across the area. “Welcome to great, green, and trashy New Delhi,” he remarked, pointing to the garbage-ridden thoroughfare.
Pointing out the neighbouring Greek embassy, Svane remarked, “This should be a service lane but it is full of trash and people come here to do whatever they like to do here.”
Expressing hope for prompt intervention, Svane urged, “No more nice words, just action. My friends, dhanyawaad”.
The video concluded with a sweeping view of the waste piled up near the embassy premises.
Sharing the video, Svaen underscored his disappointment, captioning, “Lovely and green New Delhi. Many words but no action. Saddened by this”.
