Delhi Weather: Heatwave Alert Issued, Strong Winds Likely To Raise Temperature To 45°C

Delhi Weather: There are fewer chances of relief from the scorching heat in the city as the temperature is likely to continue rising in the coming days.

Delhi Weather: There seems to be no respite for the residents of the national capital from the scorching heat, as a heatwave is likely to prevail in the city. Due to winds, the temperature in Delhi will hover around 45 degrees Celsius. There are no signs of rain in the city over the next few days, which can make the matter worse for residents who are facing the brunt of high temperatures.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday that the city is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky throughout the day. The weather office also predicted a heatwave in Delhi with a majorly clear sky over the next six days. According to IMD, the temperature in the city is likely to hover around 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

In a relief to the residents in the national capital, the weather in the city has cleared up and there are no signs of rain in the coming days. However, there are fewer chances of relief from the scorching heat due to the heat wave in the city causing temperature is likely to continue rising in the coming days due to prevailing winds.

Vice president of Meteorology and Climate Change at Skymet Weather Mahesh Palawat said, “The weather in Delhi and surrounding areas has become completely clear; winds have started blowing from the North-West direction and due to this the temperature is increasing. There seems to be no sign of rainfall soon; there will be a western disturbance around May 17, but it will not affect the plains. The temperature is expected to rise further."

IMD Issues Yellow Alert

According to a Times Of India report, Mungeshpur was the warmest at 44.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Pitampura and Pusa at 44.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was 43.5 degrees Celsius at Palam and Ayanagar and 43.7 degrees Celsius at Jafarpur.

The weather office has placed a ‘yellow’ alert for Saturday as heatwave conditions are likely in some pockets of the city. “The day temperature is rising due to clear skies and dry westerly winds,” an IMD official said, as quoted by TOI.
