Sunny Morning in Delhi, Minimum Temperature Recorded At 9.5 Degrees Celsius

Air quality index (AQI) in the capital was recorded in the ''moderate'' category at 198, as reported by PTI.

New Delhi: Delhiites woke up to a sunny morning on Friday, with the minimum temperature settling at 9.5 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The minimum temperature is one notch above normal, MeT department officials said.

According to IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 24 degrees Celsius. The weatherman forecasted a mainly clear and sunny sky on Friday. The relative humidity at 8:30 am was 83 percent, as reported by PTI.

Air quality index (AQI) in the capital was recorded in the ''moderate'' category at 198, as reported by PTI. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.

Northwest India is expected to witness normal rainfall in February while cold wave days in the region are less likely, the IMD said. According to them the Western Disturbance is affecting the Himalayan region, due to which temperature may increase in North West India in the coming two-three days.

Especially in the Delhi-NCR region, the temperature is expected to rise by 9-10 degrees in the next two-three days. The temperature may be around 9-10 degrees in the morning and 24-25 degrees in the evening. This situation is expected to persist for 2-4 days.

However, cold weather conditions prevailed in neighbouring state of Haryana and Punjab on Thursday as minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches. Parts of south Punjab, south, south-western and north Haryana were enveloped in fog.

Churu and Chittorgarh were the coldest places in Rajasthan in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Thursday, a Met Office spokesperson said. The minimum temperature in Churu was at 3 degrees Celsius while Chittorgarh recorded 3.1 degrees. The weather remained dry in the state and no large changes were witnessed in any division, the official said.
