As Delhi Witnesses Rainiest June Day In 88 Years, Commuters Take To Metro
When heavy rain brought the national capital to a standstill with streets flooded and traffic in chaos recording the rainiest single day in June in 88 years, commuters in Delhi chose the metro train to reach their destinations on Friday.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials recorded over 69 lakh passenger journeys on Friday, maintaining punctuality of 99.95 per cent despite heavy rains.
Principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC, Anuj Dayal, stated that the passenger journeys recorded by the metro were 69,36,425 on Friday. On Thursday it was 62,58,072.
Despite some obstacles due to minor waterlogging outside station premises and entry/exit points, the DMRC continued providing regular services throughout the day on Friday with excellent punctuality of over 99 per cent, Dayal stated, PTI reported.
