Delhi: Pilot, Husband Arrested For 'Torturing' Minor Domestic Help In Dwarka

According to police, medical test showed the 10-year-old girl had sustained some injuries and had burn marks.

New Delhi: A pilot and her husband, who allegedly hired a 10-year-old girl as a domestic help and tortured her, were arrested on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported. According to police, medical test showed the girl had sustained some injuries and had burn marks. A case has also been registered against the couple, police added.

“We reached the spot and found that a 10-year-old girl has been kept as domestic help by a couple. Her medical examination was conducted in which some injuries and burn marks have come to the fore. A case has been registered. Both husband and wife have been detained and are being arrested. Counselling of the child has been done,” ANI quoted Dwarka DCP M Harsha Vardhan, as saying.

Earlier in the day, ANI posted a video that showed a mob pulling the couple out of the building and thrashing them for allegedly torturing the minor. The husband is also an airline staffer.

The viral video shows people beating the couple while the woman can be seen in her uniform. The husband even tries to save his wife from the beating but is pulled aside by the crowd as women slap and thrash the pilot.

According to reports, the couple had employed a 10-year-old girl for domestic work about two months back. A relative of the girl spotted injury marks on her arms and informed the police, stated NDTV.

Delhi police said that the girl has been medically examined and a case has been registered under sections 323,324,342 IPC and Child Labour Act, 75 JJ Act, reported ANI.
