Delhi Police Tightens Security After Low-Intensity Blast In Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe

The Delhi Police said on Saturday that it has tightened the security measures following the low-intensity blast that happened yesterday In Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe. DCP Shahdara Surender Chaudhary said the security forces are engaged in foot patrolling, holding regular meetings with MWA and RWA, and conducting tenant-servant verifications.

"Apart from this, we checked parking lots and malls, patrolled markets, performed periodic checks, monitored vehicles, and used CCTV cameras and drones," he mentioned, as reported by news agency ANI.

A low-intensity blast at Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe resulted in at least ten injuries. The incident took place around 1 pm at the Whitefield branch of the cafe in Rajajinagar. Bengaluru police filed an FIR under IPC sections 307, 471, and UAPA sections 16, 18, and 38. Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act were also included.

Earlier in the day, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Bengaluru's Brookfield Hospital to meet blast victims. He announced the state government would cover all medical treatment costs for those injured in the incident.

A day after the blast, CCTV footage revealed a man entering Rameshwaram Cafe with a bag, reportedly leaving it before the explosion. The Central Crime Branch, deploying seven to eight teams, initiated an investigation. The suspect, seen wearing a cap and mask, appeared hurried in the footage, concealing their identity.

A joint team, comprising the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Bomb Disposal Squad, and Dog Squad, conducted an investigation at the blast site of The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru's Whitefield area.
