Delhi CM's Aide Bibhav Kumar Detained By Delhi Police In Swati Maliwal Assault Case

Former Presonal Secretary to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Bibhav Kumar was arrested by the Delhi Police in Swati Maliwal assault case.

The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar, in connection with the 'assault' case filed against him by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. The police arrested Kumar at Civil Line police station after quizzing him for around half an hour.

Kumar's advocate, Karan Sharma said they have not received any information from police, adding that the cops are not letting him meet with his client.

"We've not received any information from the police yet. We've sent them an e-mail that we will cooperate in the investigation," Sharma said while speaking to reporters outside the police station.

Aam Aadmi Party legal cell head, Sanjeev Nasiar said police is under pressure to stop anyone from meeting him. "Bibhav is ready to cooperate in every way. Police is misbehaving," he added.

After the arrest, an email written by Bibhav Kumar to the Delhi Police, from earlier today, surfaced. In the email, Kumar wrote that he was unaware that an FIR had been registered against him at Civil Lines Police station.

It also stated that he had not been served with any notice regarding the case and that he was "willing to cooperate and join the investigation as and when called upon to do so by the Investigating Officer".

"I am ready to cooperate in the investigation, but police should also consider my complaint against Swati Maliwal," the e mail read.

He also provided his communication details including his address, mobile phone number, and email address, in case the Delhi Police wanted to contact him.
