Delhi MCD Results: AAP Fared Poorly In Wards Falling In Constituencies Of Graft-Accused Leaders
In its 134-ward win, AAP lost the wards in the assembly constituencies under leaders accused of corruption. Take a look.
The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday ended the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 15-year rule in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi with a massive victory on 134 seats. However, the party lost in the constituencies under some of its tallest leaders. Incidentally, these leaders have been accused of corruption recently.
Here’s a look at some of the MLAs and their constituencies where the AAP could not win the wards convincingly.
SATYENDRA JAIN – SHAKURBASTI
Satyendra Jain has been in the news of late over allegations of money-laundering and misuse of his power as the prisons minister of Delhi. Satyendar Jain was arrested in a case connected to hawala transactions related to a Kolkata-based company, ANI reported. The minister was taken into custody under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

MANISH SISODIA – PATPARGANJ
The BJP accused Manish Sisodia of giving liquor industry executives an exemption worth Rs 30 crore. The licence holders reportedly received extensions at their discretion. By breaking excise laws, the policy regulations were created. After the CBI failed to name him in its charge sheet in the liquor scam case, the BJP accused that Sisodia was involved in "large-scale destruction of digital evidence" in the case.

Kailash Gehlot was accused of evading tax to the tune of Rs 120 crore. The Income Tax department in 2018 claimed that state transport minister Kailash Gahlot had evaded tax worth Rs 120 crore. The BJP also accused him of being involved in the 2020 DTC scam.
