ED Could Arrest Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Tomorrow Or Day After: Saurabh Bharadwaj

Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the ED could arrest Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow or the day after in connection with the Liquor Policy case.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj on Thursday claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) could arrest Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow or the day after in connection with the Liquor Policy case. In a press conference, Bharadwaj stated, "There is speculation across the country that the Union government wants to arrest CM Kejriwal. We have information, but we cannot reveal our sources. ED sources are suggesting that they won't make the arrest today. Today, they cannot do it because the plot is unveiled. Tomorrow or the day after, they might."

The AAP leader accused the BJP of orchestrating a conspiracy against Kejriwal ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He claimed, "For two years, we have been hearing about a multi-crore liquor scam in Delhi, but not a single rupee has been recovered. Every day, the BJP holds press conferences. Agencies have interrogated even those who put up our posters. Now, a plot to arrest Arvind Kejriwal is in motion because the Lok Sabha elections are approaching."

"Arvind Kejriwal went before the CBI and answered their questions. Our lawyers are saying that the ED summons are illegal," he remarked.

Bharadwaj also attacked the BJP saying, "BJP members claim that agencies are working impartially. How is it that whenever someone from the BJP joins, the investigations stop? Today, if Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh, and Vijay Nair join the BJP, agencies will forget the allegations against them. That's why they are behind Arvind Kejriwal, because Kejriwal is synonymous with honesty."

Delhi Minister Atishi also addressed the allegations in the Liquor Policy case.

"This must be the only scam in history where ED and CBI couldn't recover any money and proof. It's been two years and the Union government has deputed over 500 officials to this so-called scam and still has nothing to even start the trial. Why? Because this is merely a political conspiracy and an attempt to arrest Arvind Kejriwal so that he can’t contest upcoming Lok Sabha elections," she remarked, as quoted by news agency PTI.

'BJP Wants To Get Me Arrested By ED': Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP-led Union government of attempting to arrest him to obstruct his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He emphasised the alleged illegality of the ED summons.

In response to the ED's summon, Kejriwal had written to the agency, stating that the summonses were illegal. According to PTI, he expressed concern about the BJP's intentions, stating, "They want to break me by tarnishing my image."

Kejriwal questioned the timing of the summons, stating, "Why am I being summoned before Lok Sabha polls? It is because the BJP does not want to get me interrogated but arrested by the ED."

The chief minister vehemently denied any wrongdoing in the excise policy case, claiming it to be a baseless allegation. He claimed that AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Vijay Nair are not in jail due to corruption charges but because they chose not to join the BJP, PTI reported.

In a letter addressed to the ED, Kejriwal expressed his willingness to answer any questionnaire sent by the agency, but he reiterated his stance that the summonses were illegal.
