Delhi: LG Saxena Approves Government's Proposal To Send Teachers To Finland For Training

Lt Governor VK Saxena has approved the Education Department's proposal for a Primary In-charge training programme in Finland.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved the city government's proposal to send elementary teachers from state-run schools to Finland for training, news agency PTI reported citing some official sources.

The LG's office has clashed with the government on a number of occasions, notably its initiative to send school teachers abroad for training.

In his approval, Saxena noted the administration of Arvind Kejriwal's failure to provide the "impact assessment of previous foreign training programmes," according to the PTI report.

"Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved the education department's proposal for a primary in-charge training programme in Finland. In order to assure equal representation of primary in-charges from all 29 administrative zones of the education department, the LG increased the number of primary in-charges who were to travel to Finland for training from 52 to 87," according to an official from the LG's office.

"With this, 87 primary in-charges – three in-charges from each of the 29 administrative zones – will be selected for the training programme, as against the 52 primary in-charges who were arbitrarily selected by the government," according to the report.

The issue sparked a spat between the LG's office and the government, with the AAP accusing Saxena of "interfering" with the government's work.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena ordered transfers and postings of select officials in a reshuffle of bureaucrats, according to an official order. A Anbarasu, an IAS officer, has been awarded the job of Principal Secretary of PWD, as well as the additional charge of Principal Secretary of Commerce and Tax.
