Caught On Cam: Delivery Agent, Associate Robbed At Gunpoint Inside Pragati Maidan Tunnel. CM Kejriwal Asks LG To Resign

A case has been registered and efforts are being made to apprehend the criminals, said the Delhi Police.

A delivery agent and his associate were robbed of around Rupees 2 lakh cash at gunpoint inside Delhi's Pragati Maidan tunnel, said the Delhi Police on Monday. A case has been registered and efforts are being made to apprehend the criminals, it added. A video footage of the incident has come to the fore where 3-4 unidentified armed assailants on motorbike could be seen blocking the victims' car inside the tunnel. As one of them opens the car door, another snatches apparently, a bag with the cash and then flee away on their bikes.

In the wake of the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded that the Lieutenant Governor should resign and also targeted the Centre over the matter.

"LG shud resign. Make way for someone who can provide safety n security to the people of Delhi," Kejriwal tweeted, adding,
"If Central govt is unable to make Delhi safe, hand it over to us. We will show u how to make a city safe for its citizens."

The incident comes days after Kejriwal wrote a letter to the LG VK Saxena in the light of recent cases of murder in the national capital.

In his letter, Kejriwal also proposed a meeting of his cabinet with the LG and sought directions for police officers to hold joint meetings with elected MLAs, councilors, and Resident Welfare Associations to suggest better ways of reduction of crime in the national capital.

"I am writing this letter to draw the urgent attention of your goodself towards an alarming spurt in serious crimes in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. Seriousness of the situation can be gauged from a heart rending fact that four murders have taken place during the last 24 hours in different parts of Delhi,” Kejriwal stated in the letter.

The Delhi CM cited the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau saying Delhi accounted for 32.20 per cent of the total crimes against women that took place in 19 metropolitan cities in India and questioned why the Ministry of Home Affairs did not take any action on this.
