Beautification Done During G20 Will Expand Across Delhi, New Assets Will Be Maintained: AAP Govt

Delhi government has assured the citizens that the beautification work that was carried out during the G20 Summit will now be expanded across the whole national capital.

Delhi Minister Atishi on Monday said that the beautification carried out in the national capital for the G20 Summit will now extend across other parts of the city as well. The Minister while talking to the media during a press conference about the measures being taken for the security of the assets created for the mega event said that an agency will be hired to safe-keep the assets created during the G20 Summit and beautification work will continue in other parts of the city, reported news agency PTI.

Talking to PTI Video, Atishi, who is also in charge of the Public Works Department (PWD), said that she conducted a meeting today regarding the beautification work to be carried out in Delhi. She said, "We want to promise one thing on behalf of CM Arvind Kejriwal to the people that the level of beautification carried out during the summit will extend further across the national capital."

She said that beginning tomorrow, PWD officials will be on the ground to ensure that beautification work commences in other areas of the national capital which were left untouched during the G20 preparations, PTI reported.

Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj during the conference said that the Public Works Department (PWD), Urban Development (UD) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will work collectively to ensure that the beautification of Delhi will be carried out properly. He said, "We want to congratulate the two crore people of Delhi for their cooperation in making the G20 Summit successful. It was with their money which was collected through taxes that we could beautify Delhi. For three days, the people of Delhi had confined themselves to their homes. On some days, they faced traffic jams as well. PWD, MCD, UD, and many other departments will work together to make Delhi beautiful in the future as well."

PWD minister Atishi added that the mechanical road sweeping and road washing were going on in a very organised manner and they will now be continued by the MCD. While talking about the resources, she said, “If the need arises, the Delhi government will support them in buying more machines to keep Delhi clean. We will not wait for even a single day. I called a review meeting today (Monday) morning. From tomorrow, I will be on ground zero to review the areas where the beautification works will be carried out."

She added that there are 1,400 kilometres of roads that are under the PWD and they will carry out beautification work on them, including decorative horticulture, reported PTI.
