5-year-old Afzal Ansari went missing on July 25, and his mutilated body was recovered in a cane field on July 26. The accused has reportedly confessed to the crime.
The son of a businessman has been arrested in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly killing and decapitating his 5-year-old nephew over a property row in the family. The body of 5-year-old Afzal Ansari was found in a cane field in the Kaanth area of Moradabad on July 26, a day after he was reported missing, according to a report in The Times of India.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Zeeshan, 26, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) course at a private college. He is the youngest of three brothers.
While being interrogated, Zeeshan initially refuted allegations of involvement in the crime, TOI reported. However, when police reportedly checked his phone location, it showed him in the vicinity of the area where the body was found. When he was questioned again with this evidence, he confessed. He said he killed his nephew after his father threatened to transfer all the family property worth Rs 5 crore in the name of Afzal, TOI reported.
The report said Zeeshan is the son of Alimuddin Ansari, a prominent businessman who manufactures bandages used in hospitals. Zeeshan’s elder brothers, Naseemuddin and Faizan, help look after the business.
The police said Zeeshan had been spending his time in the company of friends known to be alcoholics.
Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Meena told the newspaper that Zeeshan had been booked for murder.
