Rajasthan: 2 Arrested In Connection With Gang Rape Of Deaf And Mute Woman In Barmer
On November 24, a 20-year old deaf and mute Dalit girl was allegedly raped by four to five men in Rajasthan’s Barmer district while she had gone to graze goats.
New Delhi: Two persons were arrested by the Rajasthan Police on Sunday in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a deaf and mute woman in Rajasthan’s Barmer district last month. As per a report by news agency ANI, the accused have been identified as Sunil Vishnoi and Bhajan Lal.
"On November 24, a 20-year-old deaf and mute girl was raped in Barmer. After 17 days of the probe, two men Sunil and Bhajan Lal were arrested," Barmer Superintendent of Police, Deepak Bhargava was quoted as saying by the news agency.
Bhargava said that it was a big task for the police to name the unknown accused as the woman could not speak or hear.
"We identified the accused after a woman explained to us through sign language and some inputs she gave in writing. We had identified around 15 in the matter and then arrested these two. We interrogated them, they have accepted the crime," he said.

A case was registered at Dhorimanna police station the same day, he said.
According to a report by news agency PTI, the accused men, who were in a car, stopped the woman and allegedly raped her. A case was registered against unidentified men under sections of the Indian Penal Code, SHO (Dhorimanna) Sukhram Vishnoi said.
On December 10, a six-year old girl was allegedly gang raped by a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, the Police said on Saturday.

The accused, a 30-year-old man, is absconding and efforts are on to nab him, they said.
Based on victim’s mother's complaint, the accused has been booked for rape and under the POCSO Act and the victim has been sent to a government hospital for medical examination, said Station House Officer, Khakhreru police station, Amit Singh.
